The pitch
You will be an experienced Internal Auditor across front, middle and back office. Join British International Investment to drive impactful insight across all areas of the firm and leverage your analytical expertise to strengthen controls, enhance efficiency and support our strategic goals.
About the team
- Be an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve BII's operations.
- To help BII accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes covering all areas of BII.
- Areas include Finance, Legal, HR, Compliance, IT, Investment, Environmental & Social and Business Integrity.
About the role
- To work with the Head of Internal Audit and management to implement a new system which ensures that all major risks of the company are identified and analysed, on an annual basis.
- To run the risk assessment model annually, developing a risk based audit plan for the following year.
- To plan, organise and carry out the internal audits.
- Carry out an independent appraisal of the effectiveness of the policies, procedures and standards by which the company's financial, physical and information resources are managed.
- Coach and mentor the junior members of the team.
- To make recommendations on the systems and processes being reviewed, write reports on the findings and recommendations and monitor management's response and implementation.
- To assist Head of Internal Audit with reporting to management and the Audit and Compliance Committee.
- To liaise with the external auditors and ensure that each party is not only aware of the other's work but also well briefed on areas of concern.
- To keep abreast of upcoming regulations which affect the internal audit function and the work they perform.
- To conduct any reviews or tasks requested by the audit committee or CEO/CFO, provided such reviews and tasks do not compromise the independence or objectivity of the internal audit function. About you
About you
Essential skills
- A recognised professional accounting/auditing qualification.
- A minimum of five years of auditing experience at a senior level in a medium to large sized internationally recognised professional accounting firm or organisation.
Technical skills
- Knowledge of audit procedures, including planning, techniques, test and sampling methods involved in conducting audits.
- An ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise oral and written reports.
- An ability to maintain current knowledge of developments related to business matters of interest to internal audit (particularly legislation changes and developments) also new auditing techniques and practices
Personal skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a persuasive, diplomatic, confident manner. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- An ability to establish and retain effective working relationships with other company staff.
- An understanding of and empathy with the development finance sector.
