Event Control Room Operator - ISC


ISC are looking for Controllers to join their event day Control Room Team working at The O2 Arena.

This work is secured on a mutually agreed casual contract basis.


The purpose of this role is ensure the safety of the Arena occupants (both staff and public) within the constraints of AEG objectives and legal requirements and to maintain the security of the arena protecting both personnel and public property within the venue.


 Key Tasks

  • Completing pre-event checks
  • Monitoring of radio communications
  • Answering telephone
  • Accurate passage of communications
  • Monitoring of CCTV
  • Monitoring of the Stewardcall system
  • Reporting of incidents
  • Logging of incidents and occurrences via the ISS system
  • Monitoring capacity in event spaces via CCTV and the Axiomatic system
  • Logging capacity in event spaces
  • Reporting faults
  • Ensuring the ECR is fully stocked with all relevant paperwork and documentation
  • Providing admin support to the Senior Controller
  • Monitoring of licensable activities
  • Carry out pre & post event checks
  • Monitor working area for hazards, including but not limited to; signs of overcrowding, faults, spillages – ensuring they are reported and actioned
  • Reporting and logging incidents
  • Point of contact to all staff
  • Execution of duties as set out in The O2 Site Wide Incident Management Plan
  • Enforcement of venue policies
  • Completion of incident reports


Essential Requirements:

Good basic IT skills with a good understanding of word and excel. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels in varying ways. Strong verbal reasoning, and analytical skills and attention to detail. Sound judgement and decision making skills, with a ‘hands on’, problem solving approach. Must have a willingness to commit across the full event calendar and is mainly evening work spanning all seven week days. An ability to remain calm under pressure. SIA Public Space Surveillance Licence. Touch typing to 30wpm.

Applicants selected for interview will be asked to prove identity and current address. Numeracy and literacy will be tested; a criminal records check, licence check and previous work history check will also be undertaken for those selected.


The role is mainly Control Room - desk based but will involve some standing and walking. Confirmation of role is dependent upon successful completion of a 10 event training programme.
