Housing & Estates Manager
The purpose of this role is to oversee operational housing management across various schemes, ensuring customers receive high-quality, responsive support in a safe environment. The Housing & Estates Manager will collaborate with housing teams, the local authority, and other stakeholders to foster a positive atmosphere, encourage social interaction, and reduce isolation. Additionally, they will manage compliance databases and maintain the repairs and programmed works process for AUKNT-owned assets.
To line manage the domestic staffing team to provide/recognises the need under Health & Safety legislation to maintain an effective management system for prevention and control of infectious diseases within the Extra Care Scheme and wider estate
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To provide a comprehensive housing management service including all housing and tenancy management, compliance, information on welfare benefits and any breaches of tenancies.
- To support the implementation of housing-related support plans for each customer, including supporting the lettings process and leading on the allocation panels from the point of contact.
- To ensure any contracted services such as gardeners, window cleaners and planned works are procured in line with AUKNT policies and are monitored accordingly.
- To support the smooth running of a fully operational housing and engagement office, overseeing, reporting and liaising for repairs and compliance works with contractors and maintaining weekly health and safety checks.
- To build rapport and actively promote good relationships with all customers while ensuring dignity and confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- To immediately report any kind of concerns e.g. Safety to the Housing and Care Manager at Havelock Place or Head of Housing.
- To oversee and support any volunteers and ensure the appropriate staffing levels for events and outings.
- To build relationships and rapport with customers.
- To manage compliance database to ensure up to date systems and processes in place.
- To abide by Health & Safety regulations at all times using management systems.
- To comply with GDPR and other legislation e.g. Equality Act, Data Protection and Fire Safety.
- To comply with the Quality Assurance System for the organisation while maintaining accurate records.
- To comply with the complaint investigation process to address identified weaknesses.
- To promote the organisation’s services, values and aims at every opportunity.
Requirements:
Essentials:
- NVQ level 4 in Housing or experience of working in an affordable housing environment.
- Good level of written English and Mathematics (GCSE grades A-C or equivalent required).
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, email (Outlook Express) and use of CRM systems.
- Demonstrable project delivery ability.
- Ability to work within a team.
Desirables:
- Experience in Health and Social Care and Housing with Extra Care Setting
- Experience of providing services which are person centred and promote dignity, independence and choice.
- Using Risk Assessment processes to minimise and balance risk for the individual (positive risk taking)
- Experience of monitoring Health and Safety, compliance and estate/housing management
- Experience of dealing with safeguarding issues
- Have a current driving license
