Sports Teacher

Chepstow House School is looking for a Sports teacher starting in April or September 2019.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an already established and high attaining PE department. This post would suit an experienced teacher or someone new to the profession with an Honours Degree and a recognised teaching qualification. Knowledge in all sport areas including Dance, Gymnastics and Ball skills would be advantageous and a coaching certificate for swimming would also be desirable. Sports lessons will be taught daily as well as contributing fully to the life of the school, taking extra -curricular activities and being involved in everyday school duties.

 

Job Summary

The successful candidate will work with other staff to maintain an innovative, dynamic and high achieving setting. They will also need to interact and support children in a positive way to foster their enthusiasm for learning. A willingness to contribute fully to the extra-curricular activities, sports fixtures and life of the school is vital.

Salary is based on the Alpha Plus Group pay scale and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

SUMMARY OF THE POST

  • Teach weekly scheduled lessons
  • Plan and implement lessons for EYFS, Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2 children in areas of ball skills and team games, gymnastics and dance.
  • Keep up to date on all curriculum aspects through internal and external insets.
  • Introduce and teach correct use of a variety of sport equipment.
  • Take before and after school practice clubs.
  • Organise and facilitate team game matches internally and amongst neighbouring schools.
  • Where necessary, maintain children’s attendance records, assessment records, other required

records and write reports.

  • Plan, evaluate, and revise the PE curriculum, lesson content, materials and methods of teaching.
  • Select, review and maintain relevant resources.
  • Form good relationships with all members of staff, children and parents.

 

SCHOOL DUTIES

  • Ensuring that all children are safe in the hall and never unsupervised and that they do not leave the hall without prior permission.
  • Ensuring that safety measures are met by closing exterior doors at the end of the session before sending or escorting children in a quiet and organised manner back to class.
  • Being constantly aware of the children and not being distracted by other activities which could lead to negligence.
  • To contribute fully to the extracurricular activities and life of the school

REVIEW

  • The task and duties above are required for all sports teachers, these may be reviewed at least once a year, usually in the Summer Term, between the Head and the sports teachers in conjunction with the annual review.

 

PAY SCALES

  • In accordance with the Alpha Plus pay scale, depending on experience and qualifications.

 

STAFF DRESS CODE

  • Sports staff are expected to wear the Chepstow House sports attire. This will be provided for you.
