File Opener - Central File Opening Team - Any office
The Role
The Central File Opening (CFO) team at Ashtons Legal plays a vital role in supporting all departments across the firm by managing the file opening process. This includes ensuring compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and conducting thorough Client Due Diligence (CDD) checks.
As a File Opener, you will be responsible for handling a variety of administrative tasks to ensure files are opened accurately and efficiently, supporting the wider legal teams in delivering excellent client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Open client files using the firm’s case management system
- Upload and manage client identification documents
- Follow up with clients via telephone and email to obtain required information
- Assist with risk assessments and related compliance tasks
- Perform general administrative duties to support the CFO team
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Previous experience in a legal practice or comparable office environment
- Strong data entry skills and experience working to deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage competing priorities and workloads
- Confident using your own initiative and working independently
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Comfortable discussing ID requirements with clients and colleagues
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Desirable:
- Experience in a legal secretarial, administrative, or similar office-based role
- Familiarity with AML and CDD processes (training can be provided)
The team meets weekly in Bury St Edmunds for training sessions, team meetings and informal catch-ups.
