Hours: Full (average of 39 hours per week) and part time hours available. Shift patterns available include: Full time: Day/Night, Nights only, Part Time: Afternoon/Twilight

Salary: £8.41 - £8.70 per hour (£17,062 - £17,643 FTE) rising to £9.06 - £9.39 per hour (£18,373 - £19,043 FTE) for candidates with relevant QCF Level 3 qualification. £15 per night allowance also payable. (Rate effective 1st September)

Location: Meldreth, Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border

Salary: £8.41ph to £9.39ph (linked to competency and qualifications) + a night supplement of c. £2,730 per year) 

Hours: 4 week rota pattern of 14 shifts (8:45pm to 8:15am) – Ave 39hrs per week.

Where possible we will also consider flexible shift patterns to suit you

 

Aurora Orchard Manor 

We are currently looking for a number of Night Support Workers in Meldreth (South Cambridgeshire / North Hertfordshire boarder), where our Aurora Orchard Manor adult services centre offers a supportive living and learning environment for young adults who have severe and profound learning difficulties.

Key responsibilities:

Orchard Manor provides a transitional opportunity for individuals to move from education into adulthood with a focus on person-centred programmes to promote independence.

We work with people with multiple disabilities who may have sensory and physical impairments who benefit from our specialist facilities that have been designed to meet their needs.

At night; your role will be to provide the highest level of care for our young adults; from assisting them in getting ready for bed (including washing/changing), encouraging a healthy sleeping pattern where possible and of course checking all of those in your care at regular intervals through the night and dealing with any incidences that occur.

This is a waking night position; so in the quiet periods you will also be expected to get involved in some light housekeeping duties (such as loading the dishwasher, laundry and keeping the environment tidy).

In the morning you’ll then assist with supporting our young adults to get up, washed and dressed, ready for the day.

With full training and continued support you will take responsibility for ensuring that all their day to day health needs are met including the administration and recording of prescribed medication.

The key to this role will be your ability to communicate effectively, build trusting relationships and provide the support required to enable our young adults to become more autonomous.

It is a tough yet totally rewarding role. Ultimately we are looking for people with a passion to build relationships and positively change the lives of the young adults that we work with. So whilst previous experience would be highly beneficial; it’s not essential.  What’s more important to us is that you can demonstrate the right attitude to make a difference.

If you do not already have a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, but believe this role is right for you, then we will provide the support (and cover the costs) for you to achieve this; and will continue to support your development throughout your career with us with pay rises to match your progression.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Willingness to work towards achieving Level 3 Diploma HSC (funded by us).
  • A robust, positive and creative approach in meeting the needs of young adults.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and team working skills.
  • High level of resilience and patience 
  • The ability to work within a night based rota pattern that typically requires working every other weekend.
