Salary: £8.41 - £9.39 per hour (£17,492.80 - £19,531.20 per annum) linked to competency and qualifications
We are currently looking for Support Workers in Pilning, South Gloucestershire, where our care home provides specialist residential care for children and young people aged 7-19 with communication and associated difficulties.
Our students may be on the autistic spectrum, have Asperger’s Syndrome or other difficulties that impact their emotional health and well-being and create barriers to learning.
The key to this role will be ensuring that all our children and young people receive a high standard of care whilst living and learning in a safe, clean and homely environment where they are encouraged to be as active as they can be in their local community; encouraged to try new things and do the things they really want to do.
Whilst there is no typical day; you will work as part of a team to support the children through their daily routine. You will help the children get up, washed, dressed and fed and escorted to our school. You will take an active role in supporting a wide range of leisure activities (such as music and swimming) and a variety of independent living skills. You will also be expected to liaise with parents, guardians, House Managers and Class Teachers as required and provide support for health checks and specialist appointments.
With full training and continued support you will take responsibility for the care of their clothes, bedrooms, personal belongings and ensure that all their medical needs are met at all times including the administering and recording of prescribed medication.
Naturally; you’ll understand what ‘good care’ looks like and be committed to the safeguarding and welfare of the children and young adults in our care.
It is a tough yet totally rewarding role. Ultimately we are looking for people with a passion to build relationships and positively change the lives of the children and young adults that we work with. So whilst previous experience would be highly beneficial; it’s not essential. What’s more important to us is that you can demonstrate the right attitude to make a difference.
If you do not already have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, but believe this role is right for you, then we will provide the support (and cover the costs) for you to achieve this; and will continue to support your development throughout your career with us with pay rises to match your progression.
