Due to our continued expansion; we’re currently looking for a number of Night Youth Support Workers in Dorset where our Aurora Boveridge College supports young people aged 16 to 25 years range of diagnoses such as ASD, anxiety and other mental health conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

The key to this role will be ensuring that all our young people receive a high standard of care during the evening & at night in a safe, fun and homely environment.

To facilitate this, you will follow guidance on how best to provide support throughout the evening & night to proactively contribute to the individual support plans we have in place for each young person. This will include supporting our young people to engage in activities such as going to the cinema, bowling or to local events as well as supporting with their shopping, cooking and keeping their personal spaces clean and tidy. Role modelling successful interactions with others is a key responsibility.

You will be expected to support our young people to develop and maintain a healthy sleeping pattern where possible and of course you will be available to support when anxieties are raised and once trained you will deal with any incidences that may occur.

Naturally; you’ll understand what ‘good care’ looks like, be able to articulate and promote this; ensuring that any problems with the care/safety/environment are reported and escalated if necessary.

With full training and continued support you will take responsibility for ensuring that all their medical needs are met including supporting administering and recording of prescribed medication.


Ultimately we are looking for people with a passion to positively change the lives of the young people that we work with. It is therefore essential that you have had some experience (either through your personal life or working practice) of caring for and motivating others.

If you do not already have a QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care but believe this role is right for you, then we will provide the support (and cover the costs) for you to achieve this; and will continue to support your development throughout your career with us.

Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 Diploma or equivalent HSC or willing to work towards achieving this.
  • Experience working within special needs and/or support/care roles (either in a paid or personal environment). 
  • A positive and creative approach in meeting individual’s needs. 
  • Good interpersonal and team working skills. 
  • Literacy skills. 
  • Able to work within the parameters of the physical demands of the job role. 
  • Be able to work within a rota pattern (which includes evenings, weekends and some unsocial hours).
