Technical Design Assistant

Our Furnishings division, BD Living provide furnishing solutions that will fit in with our customers’ homes perfectly.  This team supplies and fits storage and bedroom furniture, from cutting edge styles to contemporary classics.  Not just supporting our Customers, BD living also support our Sales and Marketing teams with a one stop shop, creating the layout and design of our marketing suites and completing the full fit-out of the suites across the country.

Depending on the role, you could be part of the support staff in the office working within our Technical, Sales, Finance, or Admin teams.  You may be working in our warehouse as a production operative or you could be working out in the field as one of our fitters or drivers based throughout the UK.  Together we ensure we deliver an exceptional customer experience to all.

What will I be Responsible for:

The purpose of the role is the production of material cutting lists for Group house-types requiring Bedroom Furniture products, and to assist with new product/design layouts as required.

Provide technical support to BD Living technical and installations teams to ensure Bedroom Furniture installations are in line with Barratt Group requirements.

Produce technical cuttings lists and associated paperwork in line with required timescales, and identify standard and bespoke products and processes as required for the installation of furniture.

Provide a professional and efficient service for installation of products to the department's internal teams and to Barratt Group teams as required.

Share technical skills and processes with internal teams as appropriate, and take ownership of specific technical tasks/requirements within the technical team.

Ensure Health & Safety guidelines are adhered to in line with Barratt Group requirements.


Personal Characteristics/Skills Required:

Must have excellent organisation and communication skills.

Must be able to work independently or within a team.

Must have a good working knowledge of architectural drawings/technical drawings for house-type layouts.

Must be proficient in use of scale rule and have good product knowledge of all components to achieve required installations.

Must be proficient in Microsoft office/Excel/Inventor/RnD packages and an understanding or ERP systems.

Must be capable and have knowledge of constructing and de-constructing all types of bedroom furniture products in the range.

Must be able to process production orders and create Bill of Materials for all manufactured bedroom furniture components.
