Internal Auditor - Scotland / North East of England Region - Maternity Cover (Temporary)

In this role you will be responsible for objectively reviewing business processes ensuring that the business is compliant with relevant law and legislation. You will make recommendations on how to improve internal controls and governance processes, evaluate the efficacy of risk management procedures that are currently in place and undertake consulting activity which will add value and improve the overall business operations.  

Principle responsibilities of this role, amongst others, will be to:-

  • To ensure that local management is exercising robust levels of internal control to safeguard the Company’s assets, avoid unnecessary losses and minimise financial risk.

  • To ensure depot compliance with the requirements of the Branch Procedure Manual.

  • To submit a comprehensive audit report, detailing any deficiencies in controls, for submission to senior management and the Board of Directors.

Main tasks to be performed are:

  • Carry out routines audits at all of the Company’s premises.
  • Detailed investigations on a specific basis at locations where performance has been deficient.
  • Follow-up audits as required.
  • Ad-hoc audits as requested by the business
  • Support Operations in ensuring that the systems of internal control are adequate.
  • Submit comprehensive audit reports detailing weaknesses identified and to discuss the findings with the General Manager and Regional Controller at the completion of the audits.
  • To ensure compliance with Company Health & Safety procedures at all times.

This role is a maternity cover for 9 months (+ holiday entitlement) and the region to be covered is Scotland and North East England.

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and run projects to a high standard all whilst managing your time successfully. You will also have exceptional report writing capability alongside excellent verbal and written communication skills.
