Team and role overview

BII is expanding its application support team in response to the increasingly complex application portfolio. Up until recently the team has primarily supported the portfolio management application. Additional applications are being implemented that are core to BIIs operations which will be supported by this team.

BII is recruiting an Application Support Analyst to join the team to strengthen our support capability, develop reports, perform system enhancements, build out training materials and deliver training to the business.

Purpose

The purpose of the Application Support Analyst is to ensure the smooth operation and functionality of software applications within BII. BII has an increasingly complex portfolio of applications and in response we are building are enhancing the application support framework and associated resources. This role will be the compliment the three existing support roles.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve issues that users encounter while using software applications.
  • Service Requests: Understanding and defining new business requirements and overseeing their implementation through the release and change management processes.
  • User Support and Training: Provide support and training to users, helping them understand and effectively use the applications.
  • Application Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of applications to ensure they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
  • System Updates and Patches: Manage and apply updates and patches to keep applications up-to-date and secure.
  • Collaboration with Development Teams: Work closely with development teams to address any bugs or issues and to improve the applications.
  • Documentation: Maintaining detailed documentation of issues, solutions, and updates to ensure a clear record of application performance and troubleshooting steps.
  • Third party vendors: Manage the logging and resolution of incidents and service requests with application vendors.

The candidate

Background, skills, aptitude

  • Previous suitable experience supporting financial applications within a Financial Services (Private Equity / Investment Management / Investment Banking) or NGO organisation is essential as that experience will contribute to building the structure and discipline for this function.
  • Application support certifications will be advantageous.
  • Capable of communicating equally well with business users and technical professionals
  • Due to BII’s cloud-based infrastructure must have strong engagement experience with third party service providers.
  • Proficient level of understanding of Microsoft technologies for infrastructure and workplace productivity tools, including Cloud, SaaS, Azure, M365 and SQL
  • Fundamentals of ITIL, Agile, DevOps and Prince2
