Team and role overview

BII’s Development Impact Management team is market-leading and provides technical leadership on how to assess, manage and evaluate the impact of our investments. BII’s objective is to push the boundaries in impact management with a world-class impact framework to deliver productive, sustainable and inclusive impact across Africa, South Asia, Indo-Pacific and the Caribbean.

 

Purpose

We are currently recruiting for an intern within the Development Impact Management team. The candidate will be responsible for delivering effective and high-quality impact management. Candidates will report to the Development Impact Manager within the team. The candidate will play an active role in developing and maintaining BII’s impact management frameworks, contribute to thought leadership, and contribute to BII’s impact systems and processes in order to deepen the impact on people and planet.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent use of BII’s Impact management frameworks across deal lifecycle
  • Track and analyse deal-level impact data to track performance of committed deals
  • Support the management and coordination of Impact Score Panels and Impact Score Steering Group
  • Contribute to the continual development of BII’s impact management framework ensuring tools, systems, policies and capabilities remain world class which could include update to Impact Score, Contribution and other BII frameworks as required (For example – Develop Benchmarks, Proxies that improve our processes)
  • Support broader systems and processes development with teams within and outside the Impact Group

 

The candidate (please note, this programme is not for undergraduates)

Background, skills, aptitude

  • Studying towards an MBA, MSc in Economics or Development Economics, or equivalent & have a strong background in consulting, impact measurement and management, or international development
  • Practical and results-oriented individual with a track record of delivering successful projects or products
  • Excellent and demonstrable Excel & PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent and demonstrable analytical and communication skills
  • Interest in development finance
  • Candidates should be strongly motivated by BII’s development mission and ideally demonstrate some commitment to development or social goals through previous executive or non-executive activity.
