Team and role overview
This newly created role is part of the Business Applications team, which is responsible for the overall application landscape within BII. Key to this role is the establishment of a centralised test function within BII to support application development and software delivery across multiple platforms and domains. The role blends strategy and hands‑on delivery and will initially operate as the sole tester/test manager.
Purpose
Define, implement, and own a robust and scalable testing capability that lifts delivery quality, reduces risk, and accelerates value across BII’s application ecosystem. Success looks like: a clear end‑to‑end test strategy and governance, efficient test planning and execution across streams (functional, integration, system, UAT, non‑functional), measurable quality improvements, effective defect management, and smooth releases, while exploring if automation and AI‑assisted testing would benefit BII.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the end‑to‑end test strategy and governance across functional, regression, integration, UAT, non‑functional streams.
- Establish a centralised testing function, frameworks, processes, and release criteria.
- Lead test planning, estimation, and scheduling across teams and workstreams to ensure on‑time, risk‑managed delivery.
- Be hands‑on as required and operate confidently as the sole tester/test manager in the early phase.
- Lead test case and script development aligned to business requirements and specifications.
- Establish and maintain regression packs.
- Manage test execution for unit, integration, system, and UAT; ensuring developer testing is completed as required.
- Drive defect management and triage, coordinating internal teams and third parties to timely resolution.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for automation and AI-driven testing and develop business cases that clearly articulate ROI and value to the organisation.
- Establish metrics and reporting for progress, coverage, quality, defect trends.
- Execute and coordinate regression and upgrade testing for eFront (BII’s core deal and portfolio management system) and related platforms.
- Participate in sprint planning, release management and retrospective ceremonies.
- Coach and mentor teams to build test capabilities.
- Stay current on testing trends and best practices.
