We’re on the hunt for an experienced manager to run Ellesmere Port Sports Village. First and foremost, we’ll be looking for impressive people management skills that include a real flair for motivating a team to hit challenging targets and adhere to meticulous standards. You need to be a bold, creative, energetic person with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude to maximise income opportunities and bring innovation to the site.

Direct knowledge of managing a multi-purpose leisure facility and working with community groups and regional organisations is essential. The ability to create and develop partnerships is vital to encourage communities to be physically active, particularly those in areas of deprivation. You will be expected to work with a range of partners, such as the local authority, housing providers, NGB’s and other vital organisations to enhance the health and wellbeing of our community. 

You’ll be managing a large team so as well as excellent leadership skills, you’ll need to be able to communicate effectively and develop relationships with people of all levels, both inside and outside of the company. You’ll inspire and motivate a team to excel in everything they do.

It’s a varied role with a lot going on, so we need someone who is very well organised to head up the team. It’s a fast paced environment so you’ll need to work well under pressure, whether you’re working on preparing business plans, developing the programme or ensuring all health and safety legislation has adhered too.


Key responsibilities:

  1. To manage the site in accordance with the specification, including leading on the development and implementation for the service of wet, dry and external activities.
  2. Promote the facilities to meet identified needs for sporting, leisure and cultural activities, club use, catering functions, seminars or Council/partner use, working with the community to identify those needs, and in conjunction with the Marketing Strategy targets
  3. To undertake performance monitoring against KPIs, including quality accreditations including attainment of Quest, and reporting to the OM in line with contract requirements
  4. Determine facility staffing requirements annually as part of budget process and ensure casual, teaching and permanent staff are engaged as required to meet operating needs
  5. Manage discipline, absence, health, safety and welfare issues in consultation with HR and to comply with Company policy and legislation
  6. To act as a Safeguarding Officer, attend and maintain the relevant training and ensure safeguarding processes are upheld
