The British Business Bank is a government-owned financial institution; driving economic growth by making finance markets work better for smaller businesses. We’re looking to appoint a Senior Data Manager into a newly created role, working within the Business Intelligence arm of British Business Bank’s Finance team.
The Senior Data Manager will act as the subject matter expert in the data available for analysis and reporting across all investment programmes and central teams of British Business Bank. You will own the provision and development of analytical data and will be responsible for collection, validation, cleansing and transformation of raw data from internal and external sources. The Senior Data Manager will be managing the provision of analytical data to support all product, subsidiary and Group reporting, including to the British Business Bank Board.
You will be the key user of the enterprise data warehouse and you will be accountable for data processing, data security and data quality across the investment programmes within British Business Bank. You will specify analytical data sets to support the delivery of British Business Bank’s business strategy, effectively liaising with and managing senior stakeholders; ensuring that contractual requirements in terms of data sets with external delivery partners are met.
As Senior Data Manager, you will lead, guide and direct the Data Manager and Analysts. This will include education, training and mentoring to allow the adoption of a formal development methodology across the Business Intelligence function. A key part of the Senior Data Manager’s position will involve continuously improving the processing of raw data to standardise the data ingest across all products.
In order to be considered for this position, you must have significant and demonstrable experience in querying complex data sets using SQL, a sound technical understanding of database design, including conceptual, logical and physical data models, experience constructing queries and data sets under a controlled development methodology and you will be adept at delivering to a strict production schedule.
The role could suit an individual from an IT background who is looking to be closer to the business and, ideally, we are looking for an individual who has experience in a financial services/ investment management organisation.
