Operating Department Practitioner/ Theatre Nurse

As an Operating Department Practitioner/ Theatre Nurse you will perform a range of duties ranging including undertaking circulating, anaesthetic and recovery duties, in addition you will carry out all relevant forms of patient care to a high standard with limited supervision of the team leader. We are looking for a natural self- starter with a desire to facilitate a quality patient experience that will in turn enhance your skills and the success of CARE Fertility.

The Role

  • Carry out a full range of duties, assessment planning, implementation and evaluation with support from team and senior members
  • Administer sedation and monitor patients during the procedure
  • Perform venepuncture and dispense medication
  • Undertake circulating, sedation and recovery duties as required.
  • Assist during the procedure and recover patients following their procedure
  • Ensure that the correct control, storage and administration of controlled drugs and other drugs are undertaken in accordance with CARE protocols
  • Assist with updating and maintaining service records of all medical equipment
  • Professionally and diligently conduct self against Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority’s Code of Practice (HEFA)

The Person

  • Essential to be a Registered Nurse and NVQ level 3 in operating department practice or equivalent
  • Proven post registration experience in theatre, recovery and scrub
  • Excellent organisational skills ability to proactively manage workload
  • An understanding and appreciation of patient confidentiality
  • Act as a CARE Fertility ambassador and as a role model as a Theatre Nurse and be accountable for own actions
  • A desire for continuous personal and professional development by reading relevant material and attending appropriately identified courses and conferences
