Are you a people leader who cares?
It’s the variety of work in this role that makes it unique, you’re running the full end to end of your clinic, one minute you’re speaking to patients, the next you’re solving an operational issue. Problem solving, providing direction, operational management, commercial responsibility for your clinic, driving performance, looking at KPIs and reports, analysing trends and then designing interventions to improvements. Incident management, quality control, escalation and governance of issues….but don’t forget the people; your colleagues you need to inspire and motivate, and your patients and their journey. We don’t just care, we are CARE.
You’ll be managing downwards, sidewards and upwards; leading multidisciplinary teams of scientists, nurses, quality managers and administration, reporting to your boss, explaining your numbers, maybe action plans.
You’re managing one of our largest clinics, that means high growth and high volumes. Then there’s the nature of what we do; it’s emotive, it’s complex, you need to understand your patients and be able to support them, like you do your teams, even when you’re at your busiest.
The breadth of responsibility and accountability is vast. But don’t worry, you certainly won’t land on your own with an inexperienced team.
The previous Clinic Director will be your line manager, so that means you’ve got the support of someone who has been there and done it. You’re also a member of a close regional peer group, and don’t forget you have matrix functional expertise from the laboratories, nurses and administration – you’ll have lots of specialist technical support to make sure you’re a real success.
If you’ve worked in healthcare before then that’s great, you were probably in the private sector already. You might be a Clinic Director/Manager looking for a new challenge, or you could be an Office/Business Manager, Patient Services Manager or Admin Manager who’s seen how it’s done through working closely with a great Director, and now you’re looking to do it yourself.
You’ll need to be personable, inclusive, credible and have gravitas. Be friendly, determined, intelligent and interested in what we do.
People management, people leadership and operational excellence are your comfort zones.
You need to balance the commercial and patient sides perfectly, so that means budgetary experience and understanding what revenue and profit mean, while being kind and empathetic to everyone.
