Southend East and Rochford Conservative Association Administrator
The Southend East and Rochford Conservative Association is seeking a highly organised and motivated Association Administrator to support our day-to-day operations.
The role is ideal for someone seeking part-time work, whether transitioning from full-time employment, partially retired, balancing childcare, or studying.
You will be the central coordinator of a friendly and dynamic voluntary organisation. The role offers a unique and exciting opportunity to gain an insight into political organisation, community engagement, and local campaigning, while working with a wide mix of people.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a confident candidate with excellent interpersonal and organisation skills, who is proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Reporting to the Association Chairman, you will take responsibility for the smooth and efficient running of the Association’s administration.

CORE SKILLS
· Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
· A proactive, self-motivated approach to work, and a strong team player
· High level of numeracy and accuracy with figures
· Willingness to work flexibly when required, and an ability to work under pressure
· Competent with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Mailchimp is desirable
· Ability to handle confidential information sensitively
· Familiarity with VoteSource, the Conservative Party’s membership and campaign software, would again be helpful but not essential
· Sympathetic to the values, aims, and objectives of the Conservative and Unionist Party
· Training will be provided where needed, and will also be given in the form of a handover
· Full driving licence desirable but not essential
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Maintain accurate records of Association members and process renewals
· Keep an up-to-date email distribution list and circulate notices
· Support with the organisation of fundraising events (venues, invitations, guest lists, payments)
· Manage day-to-day financial transactions (invoices, payments, banking, insurance renewal)
· Maintain accurate financial records
· Assist with election-related administration (ordering and bundling literature, etc.)
· Attend occasional meetings in the evenings and weekends
· Support with the smooth administration of meetings (write and circulate minutes, etc.)
· Respond professionally to emails, phone calls, and WhatsApp messages
· Act as the Association’s GDPR officer, ensuring good data-handling practice
· Serve as the primary communication point for members, building positive relationships
· Liaise with officers, members, councillors, neighbouring associations, and Party HQ
· Enter simple data accurately into straightforward computer systems
· Support campaigning activity, especially during election periods (hours may increase temporarily at election times)
· Provide administrative support to candidates
· Undertake other administrative tasks as required
· Occasionally travel to Conservative Campaign Headquarters (London)
