Director of Digital

Britain needs to be a serious country again.

Under Kemi Badenoch’s leadership, the Conservative Party is becoming the only common sense party with a clear plan to get Britain working again and unite the country.

That is our mission.

We are looking for a Director of Digital who understands what is at stake.

WHAT KIND OF PERSON ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Are you frustrated by the state of the country? Do you balk at paying high taxes, when you get failing public services and a state that costs too much while delivering too little?  Are you someone who knows Britain is not broken beyond repair, but also knows we are in a dire position with expensive energy, weak borders and rising welfare dependency?

We’re looking for someone prepared to help the country understand the truth before it is too late.

This is not a job for someone who thinks digital is graphic design and video editing.  We aren’t looking for someone who just wants to chase followers and make memes (although we do like a good meme).

This is about persuasion.

It is about understanding people. We need someone who understands the social part of social media.

It is about knowing why some messages cut through and others don’t. Why people share one thing and ignore another.

Someone who can build trust, not just traffic and who understands why trust is hard to win and easy to lose.

Someone who can turn complex arguments into plain English and show the Conservatives are offering something better than every other party: common sense, responsibility, work, real fairness, secure borders, a stronger economy and a stronger country.

WHAT THE JOB IS ABOUT

A serious argument can be right and still lose if it is badly told. Your job will be to stop that happening.

You will lead the Conservative Party’s digital operation across social media, video, content, rapid rebuttal, paid media, digital strategy and emerging technology.

But the real job is bigger than the channels.

You will help us explain the state Britain is in, why it happened, and how we fix it.

You will help us show that a stronger economy means getting Britain working again and  energy must be cheaper, homes must be built, businesses must be free to hire and grow, young people must get skills that lead to real jobs, welfare should protect only those who truly need help, and government must stop blocking the people trying to build, earn, save and contribute.

You will help us show that a stronger country means secure borders, safer streets, swift justice, strong defence, shared values, equal citizenship and pride in Britain.

More than that, you will need to believe in these things too.  You don’t have to be a party member to get this job, but you do have to be a conservative.  You should have some interest in politics, but you don’t have to spent your whole life in it – in fact, that’s probably a strength.

The job requires political judgement.

You must know when to be sharp, when to be warm, when to be funny, when to be serious…and when to say nothing.

You will need move fast without sacrificing accuracy.

You will need taste. You will need stamina.

You will need to understand data and know how to use AI without producing synthetic slop that looks like everyone else’s.

You will need to take criticism without flinching, take responsibility without hiding, and be brave enough to tell colleagues when something is not working.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • lead and inspire a high-performing digital team;
  • set digital strategy for a national political campaign;
  • turn Conservative principles into persuasive digital campaigns;
  • explain serious ideas in language normal people understand;
  • build content around voters’ lives, not just Westminster insiders.
  • use insight, data and judgement to understand what people actually think;
  • commission excellent video, graphics, paid advertising and rapid-response content;
  • understand vertical video, platform culture and the psychology of sharing;
  • use humour and emotion without becoming unserious;
  • challenge weak ideas and improve good ones;
  • Develop the staff members you will oversee
  • Report into the Chief Executive of the Conservative Party.

IN SUMMARY:

This will be hard. The hours will be long.

The pressure will be intense and there will be criticism, there always is in politics.

But the future of our country will not be won by people who want an easy life.

If you want to help rebuild the Conservative Party, get Britain working again, unite the country and give Britain a better future, we’d love to hear from you – and we’ll make it.
