Personal Operations Assistant

The Conservative Party is seeking to appoint an exceptional Personal Operations Assistant to the Leader of the Official Opposition. This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy office supporting a senior political figure. As a Personal Ops Assistant, you'll provide day-to-day assistance and organisational support, helping to ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

The role offers a varied workload, from managing tasks and correspondence to assisting at events and supporting day-to-day priorities. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being organised, proactive, and focused on delivering high-quality support with discretion and professionalism.

You'll work closely with an experienced and supportive team, gaining exposure to a wide range of responsibilities and developing valuable skills in organisation, communication, and relationship management. Attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn are essential, as no two days are the same. Politics does not operate on a typical 9-to-5/Monday-to-Friday schedule, and this position requires a flexible and responsive approach to meet the everyday demands of this fast-paced environment. This is primarily an office-based role in Westminster, Central London.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who is enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to build experience in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Track a constant stream of personal and professional requests – and make sure they happen.
  • Help anticipate upcoming priorities by preparing information, materials, and reminders in advance where possible.
  • Build positive working relationships with colleagues and external contacts, communicating professionally and courteously.
  • Be flexible with working outside standard office hours, including evenings or weekends when required.
  • Handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality, professionalism, and discretion at all times.

Skills required

  • Share Conservative values and demonstrate sound judgement when representing the office.
  • Be well organised, able to prioritise tasks, and remain calm when working in a busy environment.
  • Be adaptable and willing to support with a variety of tasks, from administrative duties to practical day-to-day requests.
  • Be proactive, resourceful, and willing to take initiative while knowing when to seek guidance.
  • Have previous experience in a fast-paced work environment (customer service, hospitality and retail all count!)
  • Be trustworthy and able to handle confidential information with professionalism.
