The Role


  • Operate as a senior business partner, providing expert advice and support on HR matters to business leaders, line managers and employees.
  • Act as a conduit for line managers and employees into specialist teams, working closely with HR team members.
  • Develop and manage best in class HR procedures and policies which reflect CDC culture and values, and support achievement of our strategic and people objectives.
  • Run end-to-end the twice -yearly Promotion and Progression process
  • Address performance management issues promptly, effectively and with compassion reinforcing (and where necessary improving) agreed policies and procedures.


  • Broad generalist role, supporting the HR Director
  • Senior HR generalist, working alongside HR Director to deliver best in class HR to CDC Group
  • Lead on ER and performance issues
  • Use best practice in establishing templates, processes and procedures, oversight of HRIS
  • Offer employees a balance of empathy and rigorous application of best practice HR
  • Ownership of bi-annual processes relating to promotions and progressions
  • Conduct high quality performance meetings with senior staff and managers to undertake the processes
  • Co-chair HR Committee meetings with HR Director
  • Data input, running reports, creation of promotion letters
  • Work with HR specialist for data for promotion processes
  • Management of junior generalist, and accountability for
  • HR data, use and development of HR Select as central HRIS
  • HR process and procedure, (starters and leavers letters, referencing and visa letters etc)
  • Work closely with HR colleagues to bring to life specialist areas in daily work with the CDC workforce:

  • Resourcing
  • Smooth on-boarding and processes facilitating payroll and benefits delivery
  • Limited level of more administrative work and document creation

  • ER letters

  • Strong critical reasoning and data skills
  • High level of communication skill in written and spoken English
  • Experience with Employee Relations and Performance Management
  • A collaborative approach to working in a team
  • Evidence of ability to set up and improve systems
  • Experience to show the candidate enjoys working with people providing active support
  • Proficient MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
