Health and Safety Technician

A short break at Center Parcs allows families to create their own experience, where they are free to do as much or as little as they like. In 2019, we’re bringing our unique and unrivalled family short breaks to Longford Forest in The Midlands region of Ireland.

Set in hundreds of acres of beautiful forest, our new Center Parcs village – Longford Forest - will welcome 250,000 guests each year, providing the very best facilities and activities. To transform our vision into a reality, we’re looking for an incredible and unstoppable team of more than 1,000 employees – and this is a unique opportunity to be involved from the start.

Responsible for co-ordinating all aspects of Health and Safety across the whole village, you’ll work in conjunction with the Fire Officer and our Technical Services team and have a dual reporting line to the village General Manager and our UK Head of Health and Safety. With a brief that involves providing first line advice on all identified Health and Safety issues, your role will cover safety in all the following divisions:

  • Technical Services - covering central buildings, accommodation and ongoing construction projects
  • Leisure - covering all outdoor and indoor activities ranging from Swimming pools to Quad Biking, High Ropes and a Cycle Centre
  • Food and Beverage - covering a number of restaurants and retail outlets
  • Housekeeping
  • Grounds Services

You will ensure that we comply with statutory obligations and provide a safe environment for both staff and guests at all times.

It’s a classic Health and Safety role – spanning fire, food and safeguarding – where you’ll focus on promoting Health and Safety awareness, monitoring performance, undertaking audits and managing risk, whilst also training key personnel and keeping them abreast of new legislation and legal requirements.

As we are in the pre-opening stage of the project, flexibility, adaptability and a willingness to help out as required are key requirements.

As an established Health and Safety practitioner, with a NEBOSH qualification (General Certificate) and an excellent understanding of current legislation and enforcement, you should have direct experience of conducting risk assessments and investigations, ideally coupled with an ability to coach others. Alongside this we also expect a good general standard of education, strong communication skills and the ability to work with staff at all levels - delivering appropriate Health and Safety advice, guidance and training, whilst also helping keep alive the company aim to ‘protect, maintain and improve the environment’.

You will be contracted to work 160 hours per 4 week period on a flexible basis. This means that your days and hours of work could vary each week but you will always receive your contracted hours each period. This role will require you to work occasional weekends and some public / bank holidays.

Please note there will be the requirement to travel to the UK for training purposes on commencement of employment.

Center Parcs is a fantastic place to work and the benefits are as impressive as they are unique. Here are just a few:

  • Annual profit share scheme / management bonus
  • Free use of leisure facilities
  • Discounted Center Parcs breaks
  • 20% discount in restaurant and retail outlets

If this sounds like your ideal job, and you’d like to be in at the start of something great, then we’d love to see your application.
