NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) Course

Nestled in the heart of our forest you will find the centrepiece of Center Parcs, the Subtropical Swimming Paradise. Open from 10am to 9pm daily the huge pool area includes a toddler pool, wave pool, whirlpool and exciting flumes as well as the wild water rapids. Swimming lessons are available for all ages with qualified instructors. There are many activities available from learning to Snorkel, Scuba Diving and Aqua jets.


We are running a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification course in order to attract qualified Lifeguards to join our growing team.

The NPLQ course will include classroom sessions on the responsibilities of being a Lifeguard, how to observe our pool guests, how to rescue those in need and administer first aid and CPR.

An offer of employment is subject to the successful completion and award of the qualification. Although there will be no fee to attend the course, a training agreement will be completed upon commencement for successful candidates. Please note that you will not be paid to attend the course.

All successful candidates must be available to attend a swim test, 5-day training course and final assessment on the dates below.

Course will run from 31 May to 4 June 2021, candidates must be available to attend every day of the course, between the hours of 7:30am-5pm.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role the successful applicants who are offered employment will be required to apply for disclosure with the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB). This disclosure, together with other selection information, will need to be satisfactory to the Company for employment to commence.


Essential requirements:

  • You must be at least 16 years of age at the time you undertake the NPLQ Course
  • You must be able to jump / dive into deep water
  • You must be able to swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
  • You must be able to swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
  • You must be able to tread water for 30 seconds
  • You must be able to surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • You must be able to climb out of the pool unaided without a ladder / steps or where the pool design permits
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrate a friendly and professional persona at all times
