IT Solutions Integration Engineer (12 Month FTC)
This is Fixed Term Contract for a hands-on technical role within the IT team, focused on delivering a strategic project to create a customer database acting as a central repository. The solution will integrate with other retail systems via APIs to enable user authentication and store customer loyalty and personalisation attributes.
Once the basic customer repository is in place, the role will lead a portfolio of mini-projects to integrate various customer-facing systems, ensuring seamless connectivity and enhanced user experience.
The role will help shape project requirements and use cases, oversee design assurance, and work closely with a third-party outsourcer for implementation. It will also manage implementation issues, ensure timely rectification, and lead testing activities to guarantee successful delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Strong hands-on experience in system integration, API development, and database technologies.
- Proven track record in project engineering or technical delivery roles within IT environments.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and oversee implementation.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including working with external vendors.
- Proactive, action-driven, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
- 7- 10 Years experience of System Integration as part of technology projects
- Helpful but not essential to have experience with customer data platforms, loyalty systems, or personalisation engines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, M365, and modern API frameworks.
- Familiarity with data security standards and GDPR compliance.
- Desirable to have a degree-level qualification in IT or related discipline and project management certifications (Prince2 / Agile).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, use cases, and technical specifications for the customer database and API integrations.
- Oversee solution design assurance, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical standards.
- Act as the primary technical liaison with third-party outsourcers, managing deliverables and ensuring quality implementation.
- Monitor and manage implementation issues, coordinating resolution and maintaining project timelines.
- Develop and execute testing plans, including integration, performance, and user acceptance testing.
- Ensure robust API connectivity between the central repository and retail systems for authentication and personalisation features.
- Lead subsequent mini-projects to integrate additional customer-facing systems into the central repository.
- Provide technical input to governance processes and report on project progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
