IT Services Security Technician

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Desktop Services Security Technician to join either our Sheffield or Normanton teams and be responsible for securing and maintaining the use of relevant Endpoint & business applications, policies, protocols, toolsets and platforms all Desktop & Laptop devices across the business. This will include Anti-virus policy creation & maintenance (firewall, application whitelisting, device control, hard disk encryption), third party application patching, Microsoft Office & O/S patching, managing redundant user & computer accounts.

Summary of Role Responsibilities:

  • Manage Endpoint protection to all workstations across sites using Kaspersky Endpoint, including policy creation & modifications. Monitoring & management of redundant user and computer accounts using Active directory/AD Manager. Microsoft and third party patching of workstations across the business.
  • Use the company service management tool to create and submit detailed call logs of all reported incidents, changes, problems and requests, documenting customer interactions. Accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness are key call logging components
  • Take all steps to troubleshoot incidents reported to them and resolve or escalate to the appropriate contact. Escalation management of issues to third parties where applicable
  • Follow all documented procedures to handle open calls including monitoring call queues
  • Apply knowledge to identify issues and internal problems; work to develop additional technical knowledge and skills. Continually proactive in research and implementation of service improvement
  • Provide user/technical training as and when necessary to include pertinent documentation
  • Share acquired skills with team members through formal and informal channels.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement, to include understanding and application of technology (hardware, software, equipment and processes).
  • Proactively seek opportunities to broaden and deepen knowledge base and proficiencies
  • To maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries and adhere to all service management principles

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience in an incident management role preferably within an ITIL or ISO 20000 environment as well as experience providing support/administration of Anti-Virus products (preferably Kaspersky), WSUS and Active Directory. A recognised ITIL Service Management qualification or IT Security Certification would be beneficial.  

The ability to provide excellent customer service, having a good eye for detail and good organization skills are also important for this position. A broad knowledge of computer hardware and peripherals, networking concepts and trouble shooting skills will be useful in this role.
