About our exciting Opportunity: 

Fair Ways are actively seeking a Bank Support Worker that is motivated, caring and person focused to join our dedicated team Outreach Team, supporting vulnerable adults and young people in their own homes.  

All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways. 

About our specialist service:  

Community Support offers a wide range of services varying from daily support within the family home to weekly visits for activities within the community. The service is bespoke to each Service User, with consistency of staffing a major factor in planning for all support. Dealing with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Condition and behavioural needs. Community Outreach supports individuals to stay within the family home, without which, circumstances would not allow. 

  • These roles can be between flexible and can offer various hours per week.  
  • All visits are a minimum of one hour and can range up to whole days. 
  • Travel time and mileage is paid in addition 
  • Support Workers will never work less than a 3 hour duration as part of their shift patter. 
  • The hours will be based on a shift pattern that includes every other weekend 
  • Our Outreach user locations are within Southampton and surrounding areas 
  • Enhanced rates of pay offered for evening and weekends 
  • Occasional night shifts are available paid at an enhanced rate 
  • A qualification within Social Care is desirable but certainly not essential – a passion to care for others and the ability to provide a high level of support and understanding are the most important factors. 

Basic Job Responsibilities: 

  • Providing flexible support in the family home and/or community to service users with disabilities, complex health needs and behaviour that challenges 
  • Actively involving Service Users in decisions about their care plan in line with their level of understanding, in order to maximise their choices. 
  • Providing one to one support (unless two staff are required based on service user risk needs) and be proactive in planning and carrying out activities and skills development in the community setting. 
  • Contributing, adhering to and regularly updating person centred care plans, risk assessments and management plans of the Service Users, in conjunction with colleagues and other professionals, to promote and safeguard the welfare of the Service Users. 
  • Be happy undertaking small elements of personal care in line with the needs of the individual although this is by no means the primary function of our outreach support workers. 

Applicants will ideally possess the following personal skills: 

  • Be positive and motivated with a real drive to make a difference. 
  • Have excellent communication skills, helping to guide our service users with general life skills. 
  • Be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to the task in hand and think outside the box. 
  • Be resilient and calm headed under pressure, focused on finding the right solution and providing support.
