About our exciting Opportunity:

We are looking to recruit zero hour’s bank staff to support our fantastic teams of permanent staff across Residential Children's home in Bournemouth supporting young people requiring mental health support and rehabilitation.

As a bank staff member you are able to select (from the available shifts) hours that work around your schedule. Fair Ways bank staff play a key part in our organisation and are truly valued and appreciated as part of our Fair Ways family. Shifts can cover days, evenings and weekends and potential sleep in’s with substantial shift enhancements offered.

All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways.

About our specialist services:

Fair Ways home in Bournemouth has the capacity to place two young people between 7 and 14 and the focus will be to provide an enriching and positive environment and to ensure we prepare the children in our care to move onto safe and nurturing foster care placements which will be achieved through early intervention. This home prides itself on having a very warm and accepting atmosphere, looking very much like a home rather than an institution. This home focuses holistically to meet the complex needs of the young people placed with great success.

Basic Job Responsibilities:

Successful applicants could be involved in any or all of the following:

  • Supervising and interacting with the children and young people and managing complex behaviour;
  • Key working (positive role modelling and guiding);
  • Recording and reporting appropriately using the correct systems to escalate safeguarding concerns;
  • Planning the week ahead with the team, being a reflective practitioner ensuring a therapeutic community throughout the home and staff team alike.
  • Attending training and meetings, including interaction with the wider team.
  • Staff could be involved in a range of activities which our children enjoy, this may include swimming, music, camping, rock climbing, horse riding, canoeing and day trips to local centres.

Applicants will ideally possess the following personal skills:

  • Experience in this field of work is desirable, but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • We ask that you are passionate about working with children and keeping them safe, have an understanding on some therapeutic approaches and can make a house feel like a home.
  • You should be methodical, reliable, and proactive, possess good communication skills, can work as part of a team and have a positive attitude.
  • You will need to be enthusiastic and passionate about making a real difference and happy to commit to the work that needs to happen to support this.
