About our exciting Opportunity:

We currently have a vacancy for a Clinical Director who will provide strategic leadership, clinical oversight, and operational management of all therapeutic and clinical services delivered to children and families across the charity. This role ensures that services are trauma-informed, evidence-based, and aligned with regulatory standards and best practice, supporting improved outcomes for children and families in care, education, and community settings.

The Clinical Director will be a key member of the Operational Board and manage, and communicate the process for quality, improvement and supporting the therapeutic development planning for all the operational departments ensuring they align with the longer-term strategy. You will ensure the Operational Board is provided with relevant departmental information to be able to make well informed strategic decisions about any future plans of the charity.

This role will be worked as a hybrid role, Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week with a minimum of 1 day per week attending our central support office, based on the outskirts of Portsmouth. All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. The successful candidate will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways.

Basic Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the clinical strategy for Fair Ways services.
  • Contribute to the organisation’s senior leadership team, influencing policy and service development.
  • Champion trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming approaches across all services.
  • Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure clinical services meet or exceed regulatory and safeguarding standards (e.g., Ofsted, CQC).
  • Oversee clinical audits, supervision, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Lead on risk management and safeguarding in collaboration with Designated Safeguarding Leads.
  • Line manage and support a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, therapists, and clinical practitioners.
  • Oversee the delivery of therapeutic interventions and measured outcomes for all individuals across residential, fostering, education, and family services

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • Professional qualification - Doctorate in Clinical / Educational Psychology, Child Psychotherapy, or equivalent.
  • Current registration with HCPC, UKCP, GMC, or equivalent.
  • Significant experience in a senior clinical leadership role within children’s and family services.
