Fair Ways is a leading children’s services charity based in the Solent, delivering Fostering, Education, Residential, Mental Health and Family services and cares for over 400 children, families, young people and vulnerable adults each year.

Where and when do we need you?
Fair Ways are seeking passionate and dedicated support staff to work with one of our independent and creative service users. This individual has a fantastic sense of humour, loves to chat and interact, and has a great interest in music and walking! This role will support an individual with a moderate intellectual disability, ADHD and Autism who is keen to achieve further independence. The role is based in their own home in the Southampton area and out in the community. Fair Ways are working with them to promote and encourage independence whilst working to ensure safety and wellbeing is met at all times
As a Support Worker in our outreach team, you will be involved in exciting and rewarding things like:
- Supporting positive engagement: Supporting the individual to be an active part of their local community and assisting with getting out and about accessing groups and activities within their local area. The individual enjoys being kept busy and active and this is an important part of developing their interaction, communication skills and experiences.
- Providing Individualised Care: Contribute, adhere to and regularly update person centred care plans, risk assessments and management plans of the individual, in conjunction with colleagues and other professionals, to promote and safeguard their welfare.
- Being a Trauma Informed professional: Using our industry recognised RiiSE training to deliver trauma informed responses through the individualised use of therapeutic and, where appropriate, physical intervention to ensure our children are supported appropriately during times of crisis.
- Building confidence: This individual attends voluntary work in a charity shop so applicants will need to be keen to assist in supporting the individual with this
- Providing dedicated care and support: The individual does not require personal care however will need prompting to ensure that they have undertaken normal daily personal care along with supporting them with usual daily living tasks. The individual will need supervision when taking their medication and full training will be given for this.
- Being a Trauma Informed professional: Using our industry recognised RiiSE training to deliver trauma informed responses through the individualised use of therapeutic and, where appropriate, physical intervention to ensure our children are supported appropriately during times of crisis.
- Building respectful impactful relationships: Proactively maintaining a safe and respectful relationship through effective support, guidance and care ensuring the maintenance of safe professional boundaries in line with best practice.
- Being part of a supportive Team: Join our amazing team of dedicated professionals who share a common goal of caring for and supporting each individual. You will work on a 121 basis but also be part of a larger supportive team being involved in handover's and sharing information within the team as required.
This role will involve working 18 hours per week as part of a rolling shift rota covering weekdays, evenings, weekends and sleep ins (with shift enhancements paid). Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways. A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle will be required

Whilst we value the knowledge and understanding that experience and qualifications can bring we also know that some of our best people have come to us from unrelated backgrounds. - Have some previous experience of working with and/or supporting adults with additional needs however if you feel you have come from a background with suitable transferable skills applications will be duly considered.
- A Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or equivalent
