Where and when do we need you?

Fair Ways are looking for a Pastoral Coordinator to work as part of our fantastic team at our specialist Autism School located at the new Eastleigh Campus of Glade School. This individual will support the inclusion of all pupils in the school each day, delivering a pastoral programme enabling them to access education and a structured timetable of both vocational and classroom based learning.

We strongly believe in creating a person-centred programme to meet each child’s needs adapting a unique ‘autistic curriculum’. This not only captures the pupil’s learning needs but also addresses social, emotional and communication needs of children and young people with autism and nurtures their independence and well-being. Students are placed with Fair Ways when most other mainstream or specialist schools have been unsuccessful. As such, they are likely to have been out of education for a long period of time, having exhausted multiple placements.

About our specialist Service:

Within this role at our school you will be involved exciting and rewarding things like:

  • To oversee the daily timetable coordination through the creation of bespoke daily schedules for each student and communicating this effectively to the team ensuring we are meeting the varied needs and interests of the students and promoting a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • To provide all students with a pastoral plan which responds to each individuals needs through the leading of therapeutic strategies and responses allowing students to feel safe and valued at school.
  • To write risk assessments and support plans for all students through the proactive use of appropriate systems to ensure the staff team have an extensive understanding of the students needs and enable them to respond accordingly.
  • To proactively maintain safe and respectful relationships with students through effective support, guidance and care ensuring the maintenance of safe professional boundaries in line with best practice.
  • To provide trauma informed responses and / or assistance during crisis situations through the individualised use of therapeutic and physical intervention to ensure staff and students are kept safe.
  • To record and report accurately and within the required time frames using the relevant systems ensuring that all significant information is shared allowing proactive and statutory responses.
  • To recognise your own reactions and feelings in response to evolving crisis situations using opportunities such as reflective supervision, team briefings and relevant training ensuring you manage the effects of these reactions on yourself and others around you.

This role is offered on 37.5 hours a week Term Time only basis. All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways.

You and your specialisms

Within our frontline services, we help achieve our mission of making a difference through passionate care, support, and education. To support this, you will be required to have, a minimum of the following qualification levels

  • To hold qualification relevant to the post, such as NVQ 3/level 3 Diploma in childcare or have demonstrable relevant experience.
  • To possess an understanding of legislation relevant to education and child protection policies and procedures.
