Where and when do we need you?

Fair Ways have a fantastic opportunity to join our amazing charity within our IT Team as 1st line IT Support. We are looking for an organised and confident individual with strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail to provide IT support for all Fair Ways Employees.  Ensuring colleagues have the IT systems, support and equipment they need to carry out their duties effectively enabling them to ensure the best possible outcomes for those we care for

Working within our IT team, you will be involved in things like:

  • Being the 1st point of contact - Managing any IT enquiries or issues via our ticketing system. You will use your excellent technical and communication skills to provide prompt and supportive advice.
  • Working Creatively – Resolving IT issues creatively whether on-site, via remote access, or through our support desk, removing IT roadblocks.
  • Setting colleagues up for success - Ensuring that new Fair Ways colleagues are set up and added to all required systems. To support new and existing colleagues managing appropriate access and security ensuring organisational compliance and efficiency supporting the charities ongoing growth and development.
  • Install, Configure, Maintain! - Keeping Fair Ways colleagues connected by installing, configuring, and maintaining required hardware and software in line with our IT security policies.
  • Keeping Track - To track and optimise our IT assets using the internal asset register and other associated systems, this ensures we have a record of all IT equipment, supports upgrade planning and allows effective budgeting.
  • Communication is key - Building relationships and communicating professionally with colleagues, internal teams and required external stakeholders, ensuring actions are timely, transparent, and values based. You will become the trusted 'go-to' for IT solutions, ensuring the charities objectives and goals are represented clearly and in line with its values.
  • Managing Change - To manage a changeable and varied workload effectively through excellent attention to detail, time management and forward thinking ensuring that all tasks are fulfilled by required deadlines and that any challenges are dealt with in a calm and supportive manor.
  • Project Participation - To work as part of the wider IT team being involved in collaborative projects and new initiatives requiring excellent teamwork and communication skills, delivering fantastic IT support contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Working as a trauma informed professional -To play your part in growing a compassionate, resilient and trauma informed community that embraces learning, so that we improve the lives and outcomes of every individual.

You and your specialisms

Our internal community is core to achieving our mission of making a difference through passionate care, support, and education. You will be extremely efficient, proactive and knowledgeable providing a professional service to internal customers and external stakeholders. To support this, you will have the following:

  • Proficiency with remote support tools (e.g., TeamViewer, AnyDesk, RDP).
  • Knowledge of Windows and/or macOS operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and common business applications.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN).
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks remotely.

The role will be based from home with a minimum of 1 day per week at our Central Support Office in Cosham, Portsmouth.  All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways. Fair Ways are unable to provide VISA sponsorship for this role and all applicants will need to be able to provide evidence of right to work in the UK.
