As Howdens continue to successfully grow the business they are recruiting a Directs Buyer for a new position in the Sourcing team. Your role will be to manage the commercial relationship with our global suppliers within your Category and further develop commercial options for supply. As part of your day to day role, you will manage a portfolio of c£30m, identify new suppliers through research, identification and recommendation. You will work on new product development and introduction to our business, negotiating the commercial detail and ensuring the product meets the needs of our business. You’ll innovate and operate autonomously in the role through developing your understanding of supply for your product category as well as understanding the external conditions and influences that may impact future availability and cost.
You’ll have a direct impact on our P&L, be responsible for managing the cost base, continually improving and seeking efficiencies whilst maintaining quality in line with our “no call-back” customer commitment. As such, you will play a key role in developing our long-term growth plans with our suppliers. The critical part of the role is to ensure the supply base meet the depots availability, quality needs and commercial requirements:
