General Operator - Packing & Stacking F8

Job Purpose

To ensure that a range of finished products are packaged and stacked safely onto pallets/stillages in accordance to the correct quality specification, which can include all or a combination of the following processes: 

Use of the MES System, setting up and monitoring the SOCO Machines, line feeding of product, banding, setting up printers to the correct configuration, and the planning and management of product changeovers.

Key Tasks

Monitoring quality and performing detailed process quality checks in accordance with the area SOP and recording performance quality and production data. 

Continuous monitoring of machines and personnel during production,Stacking of profiles onto pallets/stillages, Correct Labelling of unfinished stock, Use PPT.

Perform machine/process pre use safety checks,Assist the operators with changeovers to various skus, setting up the socco machine/process in the allocated time frame using the specific SOP.

Product confirmations on MES using SAP hand scanners,Removal of reject packed profiles,Ensure the area is maintained to the agreed housekeeping standards. 

The job holder is required to communicate with fork lift truck drivers, colleagues/team members, management and QC staff on daily production, H&S and quality issues. Share experience, knowledge and best practice with colleagues.

Accurate recording of production figures will be required. May provide on the job training to less experienced employees.

Manual handling equipment should be used to manipulate any loads or bulk materials in accordance with the manual handling training provided (operatives must be trained and authorised to use any MHE). Operatives must use the specified PPE when undertaking any physical tasks. Operatives must read and understand manual handling risk assessments specific to their task.

Responsible for adhering to H&S standards, meeting company quality standards and housekeeping.

Prioritising production liaising with colleagues/management when required.  The job holder is required to communicate and cooperate with their manager on H&S issues. 

A Team Leader, Group Leader and Operations Managers are available to discuss concerns if required.

Expected to be flexible and work on different packing I stacking processes in other parts of the factory I factories if required

The plan is normally one week in advance and overtime is often utilised to cover peaks. The job holder is expected to have flexibility to be able to operate different packing/stacking processes in other parts of the factory/factories if required.

It would be desirable for the job holder to hold NVQ Level 2 in H&S, and be MES compliant. Must have been trained on Manual Handling.
