Senior Designer

Can you ignite IGD’s brand potential through outstanding graphic & motion design?

We are looking for a highly skilled and passionate creative to push the boundaries on our content and communications design.

About the role

IGD has a huge opportunity to drive engagement with our customers through active and dynamic storytelling in graphic and motion-based formats.

As Senior Designer, you will lead the design and development of a range of content and communications, exploring fresh opportunities to create positive impact through fantastic designs that help us achieve our strategic goals.

You will be hands-on in the production of high-quality assets, providing creative inspiration and guidance to colleagues from the outset.

And you’ll also be heavily involved in evolving the visual direction of our brand and developing the ways of working and processes that ensure the Design team can deliver its best work.

The responsibilities

Reporting into the Head of Design, these include:

Leading the creative development of IGD’s brand

Through your work, you’ll be responsible for championing our brand and continuing to positively embed it in the hearts and minds of our audiences.

We don’t want to stand still, so you’ll push the boundaries of our identity, to ensure we are being progressive and dynamic, in-line with our brand values and our strong brand identity.

Inspire us with new ideas, always delivering high quality, effective designs that we can all be proud of and that help us to achieve our strategic objectives.

Operational ownership of design projects

You’ll work with teams across IGD to shape, develop and produce creative solutions that get the right message to the right audience in the right format for the right result.

You’ll be involved at the early stages of projects, playing a key role in getting to the heart of the objective, then collaborate to develop optimal solutions. You’ll create concepts, listen to feedback, get buy-in, then produce the customer-ready materials (with support from the rest of the Design team).

The variety is huge - digital banners, images, reports, presentations, animations and videos, and ‘offline’ outputs such as reports, flyers and signage – you’ll need to be comfortable across all of these and be able to innovate, too.

Collaboration & upskilling

You will influence with stakeholders at all levels across the business; training and upskilling colleagues to self-serve on appropriate design tasks; working closely with and coaching a junior designer.

Supporting & creating a great working environment

We’re continually looking to improve our ways of working – especially cross-functionally – and to raise the reputation of the Design team and the value it brings. You’ll work closely with your manager and have the confidence and skills to stand in for them when needed.

Efficiency and clarity around processes is key to achieving high quality work at pace. You’ll support the leadership team in creating a high-performance environment that is true to our brand values.

Ultimately, you’ll be a passionate and approachable advocate for what great design can do for our audiences and businesses and enthusiastic about turning our vision into a reality.

What you bring

  • Bags of experience in inspirational brand-led creative with a portfolio of work that demonstrates your knowledge of design principles, branding and storytelling, as well as your curiosity, imagination and skill
  • Proven experience in client liaison and the ability to provide excellent service to colleagues and customers with high standards supported by evidence-based decisions
  • Great engagement and influencing skills for stakeholder communication and management; with the ability to adapt for multiple stakeholders across the business
  • Teamwork with other designers, helping develop the skills of others; an active listener, able to bring people together to inspire and keep them informed
  • You should be highly adept with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (notably Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro & Media Encoder); Microsoft Office applications (notably PowerPoint & Outlook). Additional videography experience is an advantage
  • A methodical and well-organised approach to ways of working – with a big picture mindset; focused not only on tactical delivery, but understanding and contributing to strategic decisions
  • And when things don’t work as they should, you’ll come to us with ideas on how to make them better

The rewards

We offer a range of benefits, including a market leading pension, a bonus scheme, the ability to buy and sell annual leave plus a generous medical insurance package. At IGD, we have a great work-life balance, where you are empowered and trusted to manage your time.

The location

We are operating a hybrid approach to working with a mix of home and office-based working. We are based in a very accessible location within the M25, just 20 miles from central London.
