Junior Designer

Purpose of this role

Working within the Design team (part of the wider Marketing and Communications team), this role will deliver creative outputs to help IGD meet its goals.

You will support senior designers within the team in the areas of graphic design (mainly image processing/creation and digital/print layouts) and video (filming and editing) to deliver creative projects on time and to brief, and all in accordance with our brand guidelines.

Senior team members will guide and mentor you as you develop your skills and business/brand understanding. Whilst taking direction, you will also be expected to actively offer ideas on creative solutions and collaborate with various stakeholders across the business to deliver the best outcomes.

Responsibilities of this role

  • Supporting senior designers on creative projects/tasks
  • Producing concepts and final ‘customer ready’ design assets – primarily text, image and video based – to an acceptably high standard
  • Filming and editing video footage according to business needs and direction (including occasional travel)
  • Ensuring briefs are adhered to and deadlines met
  • Understanding and being able to advocate our brand guidelines and values
  • Being a team-player, developing good relationships inside and outside the team

Knowledge/skills/qualifications required


These include the key software packages we use (Windows based). Training and learning resources can be made available to support ongoing development.

  • Adobe Photoshop, to be able to crop, resize, edit and optimise images and text
  • Adobe Illustrator to create and manipulate vector graphics
  • Adobe Indesign to lay out text/image-based documents
  • Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, to produce on-brand moving image assets
  • Adobe Acrobat for PDF editing
  • Camera, lighting and audio recording equipment
  • Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint
  • Windows-based systems
  • Design principles

Reporting structure

This role reports into the Head of Design. On a day-to-day basis, you will take direction from other senior designers within the team. The role has no direct reports.


We are operating a hybrid approach to working with a mix of home and office-based working. The exact nature of this can be agreed with the line Manager.
