Project Manager

Purpose of the job

Working within the social impact team you will drive positive change in partnership with the food and consumer goods industry. You will achieve this by:

  • Working with subject matter experts and team leads to deliver a variety of projects across our Health, Sustainability and Economics topic areas
  • Leading on data and reporting to demonstrate how we make a tangible difference to society
  • Supporting the social impact engagement strategy to achieve scale and impact


Project Management

  • Work with the social impact leadership team and subject matter experts to create and deliver social impact projects
  • Coordinate information, turning data and insight into clear project briefs and deliverables
  • Work collaboratively with cross functional teams to achieve desired project outcomes
  • Build relationships and manage internal and external stakeholders
  • Highlight risks and opportunities, thinking creatively to overcome challenges

Social Impact Engagement

  • Work with the social impact and marketing teams to build a strong understanding of customers (target audience) to identify opportunities to drive scale and impact
  • Work with cross functional teams to drive continuous improvement, ensuring processes are integrated with systems including the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
  • Represent the social impact team in cross functional project groups, including the CRM champion user group
  • Represent IGD in developing current and new stakeholder relationships
  • Work collaboratively with the sales and marketing teams to drive tactical activity to deliver scale and impact

Skills required

  • Experience of managing projects and/or groups of people in a project management role, solving problems and taking stakeholders on the journey
  • Analytical skills – ability to analyse information accurately, quickly drawing out implications and trends
  • Experience of managing a diverse set of stakeholders internally and externally
  • Knowledge of reporting tools, including CRM and google analytics


  • Genuine interest in the Food and Consumer Goods industry, and driving positive change to be a force for good
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset, curiosity, and agility in approach to solving problems
  • Proactive and confident to work autonomously, but in a collaborative manner
  • Flexible, with ability to change direction and work across entire or elements of projects
  • Has a strong, collaborative work ethic, and commitment to the success of the wider team
  • Demonstrates empathy with internal and external stakeholders to understand challenges
  • Highly organised, with ability to manage upwards in a consistent and structured manner
  • Ability to present, engage, and adapt approach accordingly with a range of stakeholders including senior leaders

Reporting structure

  • This role reports into the Head of Engagement and Innovation Projects. The role has no direct reports


  • The role will be based at our head office in Letchmore heath, Watford and remotely as necessary. There will be some occasional UK travel.
