About the role

As a content-rich organisation, IGD has a huge opportunity to capitalise on the use of motion-based formats to create engagement with our customers through an active and dynamic storytelling approach.

As Motion Designer, you will lead the strategy, design and development of motion at IGD, specifically in the areas of video and animation.

You will be hands-on in the production of high quality motion assets, providing creative inspiration and guidance to colleagues from the outset. You’ll also be heavily involved in setting the strategic direction for how motion is used at IGD to support our business objectives.

The responsibilities

Reporting into the Head of Design, these include:

This means making recommendations on strategic direction, based on evidence and analysis. You’ll lead on the design and delivery of motion projects (including pre-production, filming and post-production), ensuring alignment with IGD’s brand standards and the work of the wider Design team.

Collaborating with teams to explore motion opportunities on our digital platforms and design/deliver where necessary, you will provide motion design support for the wider Brand and Events teams and activities.

You’ll co-own the creative briefing process, evolving it and supporting colleagues throughout; supporting the wider Design team on delivery of non-motion projects; coaching, supporting and delegating to junior team members to help them to develop and share the workload.

Collaboration and upskilling

You will be influencing and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels across the business; training and upskilling colleagues to self-serve on appropriate motion-related tasks and video technology and ensuring our ‘How To’ guides are created and refreshed.

Maintaining and encouraging high standards

You will also own the management of the IGD Studio suite and work in partnership with the Technology team to ensure that the facility is maintained to high standards, with a yearly tech review.

You’ll manage IGD’s repository of footage and motion-output, plus the motion equipment and related motion/sound subscriptions/services. You will also manage external agencies on motion projects.

Filming requirements will mean occasional travel, when necessary.

What you bring

  • You should be highly skilled in: Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator; AV recording equipment and set-up; Microsoft Office applications (notably PowerPoint and Outlook); Pre- and post-production processes/workflows
  • A strong working knowledge of design principles and branding best practice
  • Proven experience in client liaison / stakeholder communication and management
  • You will also need to demonstrate consistently IGD’s behaviours (available separately) which encompass: superb communication and collaboration skills, flexibility and adaptability, self-motivation and proactivity; openness and honesty
  • And, the ability to provide excellent service to colleagues and customers with high standards in your work supported by evidence-based decisions
