Head of Events (FTC)

Are you experienced in large-scale Events?  We’re searching for a Head of Events to join our amazing team based near Watford.

The Head of Events acts as an effective business partner in delivering all aspects of IGD conferences and events to drive the trading performance of IGD and enhance our reputation in the industry.

The person will take a leadership role in the development and delivery of IGD’s Trade Briefing event portfolio and will ensure effective and efficient delivery whilst maintaining the quality and standards required. Other responsibilities will include project management  for larger, more complex individual events throughout the year as allocated by the Director of Events. Key to this role is ensuring best practice and economies of scale across the organisation to increase quality and reduce cost.

The role will be for a period of up to 10 months on a fixed-term contract.

Areas of accountability

Ownership and oversight of all event operations, staff resource and scheduling. 
Duties also include project management of a variety of IGD’s larger more complex events.

What you will need to succeed:

Strong inter-personal skills

  • A confident individual capable of networking at the most senior of levels. Able to be the public face of IGD at major events, projecting a professional, caring image for IGD. As a high percentage of our communication will be via the telephone a friendly telephone manner is essential. 

Customer focus

  • Drive to deliver excellent customer care internally within IGD and externally to customers along with on site at events always going the extra mile to exceed customer expectations. Experience of working in a client facing role is essential in this role.

Budget/sales target management

  • Events are managed to a set of financial performance measures. Experience of cost forecasting, management and an appreciation of financial reporting are required. The individual needs to be sales focussed, enthusiastic and take ownership to over achieve set team targets including revenue and delegate numbers. 

Creative and enthusiastic

  • IGD is passionate about what we do and the Head of Event Operations will pro-actively identify opportunities to improve and enthusiastically follow these through. The individual will be pro-active in the events industry on forums and in their interest to take part. They will have a passion for events and be driven to achieve and develop their knowledge and experience.
