Sponsorship Manager

We’re looking for an ambitious, dynamic individual with a background in selling sponsorship and exhibition packages. As the IGD Event Sponsorship Manager you will be driving sponsorship/partnership revenues across a diverse portfolio of bespoke and exclusive commercial events.  You will be selling on multiple conferences over the course of the year, with new business development being essential for building the client base for each conference.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Director of Events and Sponsorship and the Head of Content to develop high quality, commercially successful event sponsorship models, in line with IGD’s commercial strategy
  • Create and lead an agile, cross functional sponsorship sales strategy
  • To secure event sponsorship and exhibition income, to achieve stretching income targets
  • Ensure that event sponsorship products are consistent with our commercial programmes, and maximise opportunities for cross selling of sponsorship and customised partnerships
  • Proactively generating leads, through online research, social media and other sources
  • Researching new leads, prospecting new opportunities and account management of existing relationships
  • Constantly demonstrate high levels of customer service to new and existing customers
  • Providing organisational support on site throughout the event
  • Provide high quality customer feedback to support the development of IGD services and overall proposition
  • Ensure customers are serviced and supported to agreed high standards
  • Build and maintain strong external relationships with potential sponsors through securing and leading new business meetings, and maintaining strong relationships
  • Work with IGD Analysts and IGD’s Conference Producer to create a unique programme tailored to the needs of both them and our customers, building on best practice learnings from all IGD events
  • Own an extensive programme of external meetings with prospective customers to understand requirements and outline appropriate IGD solutions
  • Manage complex client partnerships and cross-functional projects to ensure maximum long-term impact is created for IGD and the customer
  • Maintain and develop relationships with business development stakeholders, i.e. trade bodies, distributors and non-competing agencies / consultancies
  • Develops a strong customer base to launch new events
  • Build IGD’s reputation as the preferred source of information and insight on the FMCG and grocery industry

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • A proven track record of selling sponsorship and exhibition packages
  • Strong commercial acumen to identify and confirm potential sponsors/exhibitors, presentation and closing skills
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of IGD products, the industry and the competitors
  • Maintain regular contact with clients and formulate innovative, creative and profitable solutions for their business
  • Maintain close liaison with the marketing, production and operations teams in order to ensure the delivery of successful customer focused events
  • Conduct monthly revenue forecasts, sales reports and manage a sales pipeline
  • Identify potential customers from competitive media, events and from other business sources
  • Exploit all opportunities to maximise commercial return throughout this process
  • A solid sales process and/or previous sales training
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of clients at all levels
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to ensure all outputs are of the highest quality
