PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • Technology plays a critical role in IGD, supporting ~150 staff, maintaining and enhancing the company websites and customer subscription portals, and delivering value through efficient business systems and applications. The role requires strong leadership of a skilled and specialist team, including Software Developers, the energy to drive and motivate for change and the experience to be able to translate requirements into high quality services and products. You will manage and deliver complex technology and digital change projects. Working across both the Charity and Trading business the role gives the opportunity to work with a range of modern technologies and talented colleagues, and the autonomy to have a real impact on the success of the organisation.

  

AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Leadership of 11 permanent staff and contract technical staff
  • Co-leadership of wider Technology team alongside the Director of Product Management
  • Championing and advising the SLT on technology strategy and vision
  • Working in corroboration with the Charity, Trading and Marketing & Comms Teams agree a forward roadmap of Technical developments
  • Develop and lead the implementation of an annual roadmap for the programmes, with clear and ambitious targets
  • Managing an effective support and maintenance operation
  • Driving forward appropriate solutions, applications, and services
  • Embedding best practice in technology processes, service, and delivery
  • Quality assurance in data, architecture, security, quality, and compliance
  • Planning and executing solution delivery
  • Ensuring high service levels of business-critical technology
  • Ensure strong customer focus by creating a team culture of listening to customers, joining up the dots and responding at pace to opportunities
  • Manage team and budget appropriately to achieve the IT plan

CANDIDATE

What you’ll need to succeed

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Experience of the following essential;

 

  • running a technical support service function
  • leading and mentoring software development teams
  • managing and delivering complex technology and digital change projects
  • translating business requirements to solution specifications
  • managing budgets and resources
  • preparing business cases
  • ensuring IT security is central to everything the team does
  • Agile methodologies and process architecture

 

  • Familiarity with the following will be advantageous;

 

  • Online B2B, subscription or membership services
  • Office 365 and Dynamics 365
  • Data platforms (e.g. MS SQL Server, SSIS, PowerBI, PowerAutomate)
  • Cloud and virtual server infrastructure
  • Microsoft dev stack (ASP.NET, C#, Visual Studio, Azure Devops)
  • Content Management Systems (CMS) and front-end development (CSS,          JavaScript frameworks, HTML)
  • Service desk platforms
  • Website design with a strong focus on userability
