Virtual Communications Designer (FTC)

We’re looking for a people-person who is a proactive problem solver, well-organised and has an eye for detail, to support IGD’s Design team in delivering high-quality, branded communications for our business. These include emails, digital banners, images, interactive PDFs, PPTX and other web content, as well as offline/print outputs such as reports, flyers and signs.

Technically, you will be skilled at using Adobe Creative Cloud (primarily Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign) and Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint. Experience using Email Service Provider platforms (e.g. Dotdigital, Mailchimp) is a bonus. Professionally, you will be used to working on various projects simultaneously, responding to briefs with curiosity and discipline, keeping to deadlines, and maintaining excellent standards of communication and customer service. You will be energised by people and welcome collaborating with both creative and non-creative colleagues of varying seniority, but also motivating yourself to work alone when needed.


The role

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and produce a range of digital and offline collateral to support various customer-facing services/initiatives
  • Work in Dotdigital to design and send marketing emails briefed in by Marketing
  • Support senior Design colleagues with other assets creation as needed
  • Contribute ideas to webpage design for products and services as needed
  • Ensure designs are in line with IGD Brand Guidelines, delivering outputs that are high-quality, on brand and engaging


Reporting structure

  • This role reports into the Head of Design but may take instruction from other designers in the team. The role has no direct reports



  • Whilst COVID-19 restrictions are in place, IGD is supporting colleagues in working from home, where their home environment meets health and safety criteria for safe, productive working
  • On occasion, the candidate will be required to be present at our head office in Letchmore Heath, Watford, Hertfordshire

Technical skills

  • Demonstrable experience of digital design for web, email and social media in a commercial environment (preferably B2B)
  • Knowledge and experience of print design and processes
  • Skilled at using Adobe Creative Cloud (primarily Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign) and Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint
  • Flair for creative visual communications design with demonstrable experience in branding, layouts/composition, graphics creation, photo manipulation, typography, calls to action, and digital touchpoints
  • Ability to work within brand guidelines
  • Ability to quickly provide draft concepts for stakeholder feedback and further development, as well as deliver final assets to a high standard
  • Ability to learn new software/technology quickly
