Learning and Development Lead

Purpose of this role

This is an exciting time to join IGD.

We are experiencing growth, and this is a new role designed to maximise the potential of our people. We are looking for a talented, passionate, Learning and Development Lead to join our team. We are open to this role being held on a part-time or full-time basis.

Our mission is to accelerate learning for individuals, teams and IGD.

You will have the freedom to create new approaches to development, the skills to influence stakeholders and the drive and commitment to implement learning experiences for lasting impact.

The successful candidate will provide strategic direction and delivery on talent, learning and leadership development across IGD to ensure that we retain our talent and engage our people, ensuring IGD has the skills for our current and future objectives.

Responsibilities of this role

  • Create and deliver a cohesive talent, succession planning & L&D strategy across IGD that aligns to our business objectives and provides clarity for our people on professional growth opportunities
  • Introduce the latest thinking to our approach to talent management
  • Create and implement tools and support resources around talent management, performance management, professional and career development
  • Provide guidance and act as an ‘expert’ across talent management and development
  • Ensure that Succession Plans are in place for critical roles and that any retention risk areas are proactively managed and mitigated

Knowledge/skills/qualifications required


  • Experience in creating and implementing talent and learning programmes that have lasting impact
  • Knowledge of current learning, talent & development methods
  • Highly developed presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organisation
  • Experience as a facilitator and a demonstrated passion for innovative learning practices and high impact approaches

  • A proven learning and development expert, with the ability to strategically develop teams, build great cultures, influence an organisation, and change behaviours. You'll enjoy developing talent, being surrounded by curious colleagues, and holding people to account.

Reporting Structure

This role reports into the People Director. The role has no direct reports.


We are operating a hybrid approach to working with a mix of home and office-based working. The exact nature of this can be agreed with the line Manager.
