About you

We’re ideally looking for someone with: 

  • Front-end development skills using HTML, CSS, JQuery, Javascript and ideally REACT and/or Angular 
  • Back-end development skills using languages such as Python, Grails, PHP  
  • Database design and implementation experience using either SQL (such as MySQL) and / or NoSQL (such as Elasticsearch)  
  • Experience building and using RESTful APIs 
  • MVC framework experience, such as Python Flask. 

About the role 

As our new full stack software developer, you will innovate the development of services that play a critical role in the move to open access for academic research publications, in line with UK government policy.  These services are high profile and very well used by academics and others in Universities.  

We’re working to develop services, provide support, and influence policy in order to enable UK higher education to realise the rewards of open access (OA). 

On a technical level, our services operate in the cloud, based on a range of different technology platforms and you will have the opportunity to learn new technologies and gain new skills.

This role can be based in Bristol (preferred) but other office locations in London, Manchester or Harwell will be considered. 

Connecting with each other is a doddle, thanks to our technology, but getting face to face is something we value and find time for when we can, so you may need to travel on occasion. Our main offices are in Bristol, Harwell, London and Manchester.
