Location: Newcastle Training Centre
Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on skills and experience
This is an exciting opportunity to join JTL working in our brand new Newcastle Training Centre, due to open in 2025.
Job Purpose:
Responsible for delivering high quality teaching and learning in all aspects and pathways of the Plumbing & Gas Standards/qualifications to the Awarding Organisation and ifATE requirements inclusive of theoretical and practical syllabus at Level 3.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Teach & assess innovative theoretical and practical subjects at Level 3 in line with awarding organisation requirements, embedding the required Skills, knowledge & behaviours set out within the standard.
- Develop teaching resource and activities to deliver an outstanding curriculum, Assess & give constructive feedback to apprentices on course work as required by the relevant awarding organisation.
- Maintain and complete timely accurate records on attendance, punctuality, and progress, preparing regular reports and liaising with the relevant Training Officer regarding course progress, disciplinary and pastoral issues.
- Identifying and implementing intervention in line with JTLs expectations to ensure apprentice achieve timely.
- Advice regarding the need for materials and equipment as required by the course syllabus, ensuring sufficient stocks are available for teaching and workshop activities.
- Supervise training activities ensuring that control and apprentice discipline is of the highest standard.
- Responsible for the welfare and safety of apprentices always.
- Co-operate with internal and external inspection organisations such as Ofsted and responding to any reasonable request for information required timely.
- Actively engage in other such duties, under the discretion of Management team, as and when necessary.
- Give support and guidance to apprentices through each year of their apprenticeship, as necessary, supporting Standard and qualification timely in readiness for the End point assessment.
- Ensure that the pastoral relationship with the apprentice actively safeguards and promotes their welfare and behaviours.
- Proactively engage in customer focus, responding to any training needs/queries/issues raised by managers, employers, apprentices or related parties in a timely and professional manner.
- Complete all required administration documents following contractual guidelines and within given time frames.
- Maintain own industrial knowledge and teaching practice via CPD activities as well as good working relationships with external parties assisting with industry events and committees when required.
- Prepare and support apprentices in readiness to successfully achieve their end point assessment.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements:
- Level 3/Advanced Craft Certificate in Plumbing, NVQ3 or equivalent
- Up to date gas ACS units & Unvented hot water qualification
- Level 5 teaching qualification or willing to work towards.
- Maths and English at level 2 or above.
- Occupational competence within the plumbing and gas industry.
- Self-motivated, adaptive, flexible & innovative.
- Good IT Skills
Desirable:
- Understanding of Apprenticeship Standards.
- Recognised Health & Safety qualification (IOSH Managing Safely)
- Assessor qualifications (D32, D33, A1 or TAQA) or willing to work towards.
- Internal Verifier qualifications (D34, V1 or TAQA)
- Understanding of End Point assessment requirements.
