Learning Support Assistant

Do you have what it takes to bring out the best in learners with additional needs? Are you passionate about offering the kind of support that develops their confidence as well as their skills? Then join JTL and you could have a direct impact on the success of the next generation of electricians, plumbers and heating engineers.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide and coordinate learning support for learners identified as  having a neurodiversity need. This will involve communicating monthly with a caseload of learners, getting feedback on their progress, maintaining accurate records and encouraging learners to stretch and challenge themselves throughout their qualification. You will not only work directly with learners to improve their skills; you will make referrals to specialists within the team when necessary and work closely with colleagues to ensure a collaborative and joined-up approach throughout each learner’s journey. It’s all about promoting the culture of “achieving excellence” that has already made us into one of the UK’s leading apprenticeship providers.

Along with a teaching qualification at level 3 or above, you will need good GCSE math and English - and proven experience in a learning support or disability support role, ideally in FE. A sound working knowledge of Equality and Diversity legislation, including disability legislation, is essential. Add to that your good IT and communication skills and you will quickly establish yourself as a vital member of our forward-thinking team.

In return, we can promise you an attractive salary, benefits including a pension and life assurance, ongoing development and a genuinely supportive working environment. A driving license and use of a car are essential.

We welcome applicants from all sections of the community. JTL is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all its employees to share this commitment in conjunction with the requirements of the Prevent Duty and the positive promotion of modern British values.

A DBS disclosure will be required.
