Associate / Freelance - Functional Skills Trainers

As a JTL Associate, you will work with our dedicated and supportive team responsible for delivering Functional Skills to our learners across the country. Key Activities 

  • Primarily to deliver all Functional Skills (FS) and Essential Skills Wales (ESW) to learners across the regions.
  • Prepare and plan for the effective delivery of FS/ESW to meet the needs identified by the Functional Skills Manager.
  • Maintain good administrative records of learners` progress to enable effective tracking and communicate effectively to regional staff and management.
  • Enable each learner to achieve FS/ESW in line with the current National Standards.
  • Support further skills development within JTL identifying good practice and implementing change.
  • Conduct Assessment and Moderation activities of all the awards in line with Regional and National requirements and follow all QA guidelines. 

Essential Requirements 

  • Teaching Qualification or CTTLS or equivalent at level 3 or above.
  • Previous experience of FS/ESW delivery within a post-16 environment at Level 1 or 2.
  • Knowledge and understanding of FS/ESW requirements and assessment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Great IT and communication skills. -Driving Licence and use of a car. 


  • Assessor and Internal Verification qualifications e.g. TAQA or IQA.
