Infrastructure Engineer

 

The Premex Group are recruiting for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our busy team, based in Bolton.

You will be joining a growing business, focusing on group wide service. You will be responsible to change, fix and implement modifications and new products or devices to the corporate infrastructure in line with business requirements. Ensuring you support the current infrastructure team daily. 

Main Responsibilities and duties

Strategy & Planning -

  • You will work with the Lead Infrastructure Engineer and other group managers to establish and deliver the Group infrastructure requirements based on standards, regulation and technology.
  • To Investigate and propose new technologies in line with operational needs and requirements.

Technical Implementation –

  • Translate requirements and specifications into robust implementations, ensuring they are delivered to defined timescales.
  • Complete the technical hands on implementation of monitoring and systems deployment.
  • Documents configuration and changes to infrastructure systems.
  • Identifying areas of concern and completing relevant investigation and remedial actions.
  • Complete delivery of technical projects and implementation of new products.

 

Service Delivery Management -

  • An escalation point for the Service Desk 1st line team.
  • Production and maintenance of configuration and procedure documentation.
  • Monitor capacity and reliability of all systems and infrastructure components.
  • Complete maintenance plans and schedules

IT Compliance Management -

  • Implement and support infrastructure in line with information security controls such as:
    • ISO27001

Skills and experience required

You must be educated to degree level or equivalent, you should have industry qualifications such as -

MCSA, VCP, MCP, ITL v3 Foundation

You should have working knowledge in –

  • VMware vSphere 6
  • Network Administration including VLAN’s and Routing protocols
  • Windows Server OS 2012 R2 & 2016
  • Active Directory administration
  • Group Policy administration
  • Network Core Services ( DNS, DHCP, WSUS)
  • Firewall Administration – Cisco ASA & Fortinet
  • SQL Server Administration
  • Windows Clustering

Length of experience –

The ideal candidate should hold at least 5 years’ experience of working in an IT Environment – 3 years of which, should be focused on infrastructure.

You should be –

Able to take ownership of projects given to you, be able to apply a logical method to problem solving and resolving query's or incidents.

You should be able to work in a team and both alone when needed to ensure quality results of any task requested by Management.

Able to use your initiative and to work independently and without close supervision
