Workshop and Valeter Team Senior

We are looking for an experienced Workshop and Valeting Team Leader to supervise in the daily operations and allocation of work to our depot staff.

Someone who has managed fleet vehicles. Experience of supervising workshop staff – Valeters, Yard maintenance and mechanical staff etc would be a suitable individual for the role.

Knowledge of working in a similar role is essential to ensure the smooth operation of fleet vehicles to and from the depot.

Sovereign Automotive are a specialist in Taxi accident management, we provide replacement Taxis to drivers who have been involved in a Road Traffic Accident and without our services would be unable to go about their daily jobs, without a registered and licenced vehicle to drive.

You will need to ensure that all vehicles are ready for hire in a timely manner allocating the work, load and taking into account customer demand, working to strict deadlines and ensuring that work is prioritised and delegating where necessary between Valeters and workshop staff.

Main Responsibilities

  • You will undertake the preparation of vehicles for hire including meter fitting and assisting in washing / cleaning of vehicles
  • It will be for you to allocate incoming workloads between team members
  • Supervising the team and managing day to day workshop and valeting operations
  • To ensure that work is completed to a satisfactory standard within a suitable timeframe by carrying out spot checks on quality and efficiency
  • Raising any staffing issues to the Fleet Manager
  • To be the referral and escalation point for Workshop and Valeting staff
  • Ensure the team comply with Health and Safety guidelines escalating any concerns to the Fleet Manager
  • You should adopt a multi skilled approach to ensure holidays and absences are fully covered
  • Train workshop and valeting staff into the technical aspects of their roles
  • To ensure of your visibility in the yard and workshop overseeing the team and processes
  • Any ad hoc tasks as requested by your duty manager

What we ask of you:

  • You should have a pro-active approach to resolving problems and foreseeing issues before they arise
  • To be an effective communicator both verbal and written as well as listening
  • To be an approachable individual with the ability to give constructive criticism where necessary and to be able to effectively steer the Workshop/Valeting Team
  • The ability to manage and prioritise your own workload and your teams is essential
  • To have a good attention to detail with a focus on quality
  • To be professional and comfortable working under pressure

Experience preferred but not essential:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willing participation in the work of the team, providing additional help when resources are stretched.
  • Ability to manage own workload and work in a target driven environment. Motivating yourself and others.
  • Mechanics qualification in IMI or City and Guilds

 

Essential experience

You should have previous experience of managing a team, delegating work and conducting performance appraisals with individual team members.

Experience in the automotive or accident management industry within a similar role .

Due to the nature of the role, you must hold a full UK Driving licence as there be times that you are asked to drive to other sites within the business.

Saturdays - one in every four

Additional Information

Holidays 22 days plus Bank Holidays increasing by one day per year up to 25 days. Our holiday year is January to December.
