IT Support Engineer (Infrastructure)

The Premex Group are looking for an experienced Infrastructure support engineer to join our IT team based in Bolton.

As the support Infrastructure engineer, you will act as a 2nd  line support within our Infrastructure team. Supporting the physical and virtual platforms and hardware across the Premex Group of companies.

Working within the 2nd and 3rd line support team, you will determine why issues have arisen and will look to resolve business wide issues, within the virtual environment as well as physical assets. You will need to be a quick learner and able to pick up difficult query’s, using your own knowledge and initiative to provide resolutions.

Main Responsibilities and other duties;

  • You will need to manage the backup rotation to ensure company data is fully backed up. Ensure all backup failures etc are dealt with in a timely manner and escalated to the Infrastructure team if assistance is required.
  • Perform in the lead role over incidents / support tickets
  • Daily Interacting with 1st line support to understand the circumstances that have resulted in the reporting of a production application issue.
  • SME & point of contact for Kodak & Lexmark related issues/failures
  • Complete audit tasks in line with security controls such as:
  • ISO27001
  • Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Work closely with all members of the wider IT team ensuring all work that can be completed on the service desk is fully transferred over with knowledge base guides, to ensure the service desk team are aware and can complete the tasks/support.
  • To provide technical support and assistance for jobs received into the Support team.
  • Assistance in the administration of asset and Inventory management as appropriate.
  • To provide efficient and friendly services to all company IT users
  • Ensure that any areas of concern where matters arise that could prove detrimental or beneficial to operational efficiency, are reported to your line manager
  • Co-ordinate and organise commonly recurring incidents into organised problem groups, managing and co-ordinating delivery effectively.
  • To always comply with company procedures.
  • Always maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, loyalty and enthusiasm at all times.
  • To operate in accordance with the ISO Quality System
  • To confidently seek assistance from team members ensuring that wider scale issues or volume technical queries are rectified within set time frames.

 Knowledge and experience required;

  • Experience in a similar role, with similar duties and knowledge of 2nd or 3rd line support.
  • Experience of working on large volume ticket desk – inclusive of;

 Active Directory, Windows, Networks, hardware, end user equipment issues

Desirable - experience with VMWare, Azure, VirtualBox

  • GCSE Grace C or above, NVQ 1or2 equivalent
  • ITIL v3 Foundation – very desirable for the role
