Purpose of role 

To lead the strategy and execution of business marketing, which reaches and influences London and overseas businesses and event organisers.

Working with internal and external stakeholders, including expert colleagues, partners, government bodies and influencers, to maximise the impact of London & Partners’ business marketing to support income and GVA generation, engage target audiences and deliver business activity.

The Head of Business Marketing will support the Director and work alongside the Creative Services team to develop and optimise activity and ensure high quality, impactful marketing output.

Key Tasks 

  • Lead teams of business marketers, ensuring best practice flows between them and maximising any mutually beneficial opportunities:
    • one team of three dedicated to Trade & Growth and providing marketing services for programmes such as the Mayor of London’s International Business Programme (MIBP), the Business Growth Programme (BGP), and London Leaders Network.
    • one team of three focussed on foreign direct investment (FDI) and convention bureau (CVB), and any additional B2B support
    • one person focussed on a specific, commercial project: West End Future Occupiers
  • Work with Comms team and Creative Services team comprised of technology, content, design and social media specialists on planning and delivery.
  • Develop strategies and plans that are data-led, audience-focussed and aligned with London & Partners’ strategy and targets.
  • Oversee the delivery of imaginative, innovative marketing that supports GVA and income generation and engages audiences and stakeholders; building London’s and London & Partners’ reputation.
  • Chair the weekly B2B Comms Group and lead on B2B marketing in business planning.

 You'll be/have: 

  • Extensive relevant experience within a marketing environment at a senior level
  • Impressive track record of delivering high-quality campaigns and content
  • Shaping and delivering B2B marketing strategies and plans
  • Leading effective multi-market, multi-lingual campaigns tailored to local audiences, ideally in Europe, US, China and India
  • Deep knowledge of digital marketing including social and paid media
  • Proven leadership and people management skills

The salary for this role has been approved as advertised in line with our pay structure.  We will not negotiate or vary this figure upon offer or appointment.

  • Oversee relevant owned channels including ‘London’s Global Good Newsroom’ (whatsapp group), B2B websites, email and social channels, and community platforms for our Trade & Groiwth programmes and collaborating with expert colleagues.
  • Foster positive relationships and effective processes that optimise use of team time and budget. This includes scoping work and pushing back on requests that do not provide enough value and impact.
  • Broker commercial deals, partnerships or sponsorships and build strong relationships with a range of external organisations, for example the Mayor’s Office, Department for International Trade, GREAT, and a network of commercial partners.
  • Equip the team with the right systems, insights, tools, templates, guidelines, measurement and ways of working to deliver well.
  • Encourage efficient and collaborative matrix working, for example in project teams.
  • Quality assure marketing output – whether in-house or outsourced.
  • Keep the team up to date with industry trends, legal requirements, best practice and usage of key tools such as CRM.
  • Any other reasonable duties as allocated by the line manager.

Essential

 

  • Extensive relevant experience within a marketing environment at a senior level
  • Impressive track record of delivering high-quality campaigns and content
  • Shaping and delivering B2B marketing strategies and plans
  • Leading effective multi-market, multi-lingual campaigns tailored to local audiences, ideally in Europe, US, China and India
  • Deep knowledge of digital marketing including social and paid media
  • Proven leadership and people management skills
  • Building and developing a multi-talented, flexible team to deliver a varied workload, often in a rapidly changing context
  • Ability to create a team environment that encourages ownership and continuous improvement
  • Procurement and budget management including selecting the right tools and systems for your team
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Substantial hands on skills in all or most of the following: PowerPoint, Excel, Google Analytics, Social Media tools and CRM – and willingness to develop these
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Track record brokering commercial deals, partnerships or sponsorships
  • Proven ability to adjust comfortably to, and remain productive within, the context of ambiguous and fast changing priorities and contexts
